April 2006 report
I have a brief report to give this month, though we have a lot of great things going on. First of all, I’d like to remind everyone to book rooms, if you haven’t already, for Spring Assembly. The deadline to reserve a room is April 28. Speaking of Assembly, I’d like to encourage everybody to get there on Friday evening if possible. A lot of the weekend is used to conduct Al-Anon business, but they do a great job of working in some program stuff and time for spirituality, too. Friday night we will be having not only the funshop (which District 4 is doing on Concept 1), but also a speaker. Following the speaker, Panel 46 Area Coordinators, Past Delegates, and Officers will have tables set up for a meet and greet. You can find out what they do, talk to a coordinator related to your own service position, or just get to know the people you’ll be hearing from over the next three years. At the same time as the meet and greet there will be Alateen Sponsorship training, which I plan to attend. Also, don’t forget to ask your group if anyone would like to attend Spring Assembly to find out what service is like at this level—we always love to take GIPs with us!
As for our funshop for Assembly, I need help. I’m so glad I’ve got lots of volunteers to help, and I need to get e mail addresses and phone numbers from you, so that we can all get in contact with one another. Also, I need help figuring out how to present our funshop. I don’t feel like I can come up with a presentation for the stuff all on my own, and this program teaches me that I don’t have to do things alone or take on the weight of the world anymore. So if you’re involved, please start brainstorming about whether to do a skit or a presentation with visual aids, etc. I love to hear ideas.
Finally, I want to remind you that a big part of my job is supporting people in district-level service positions. If there is anything I can do for you, please let me know. Just so you know, though, I have discovered over the past four months that I am much better with telephone contact than e mail, so I recommend that you contact me that way. If you need to use e mail, though, I’ll do my best to get back to you quickly.
I am so proud of all of the GRs and district-level trusted servants—you guys are doing wonderful things!
In gratitude and service,
Amber J.
