District 4: District Representative's Page
May 2006
It’s already time for the first Assembly of our panel! This is one of my favorite service experiences. It’s a weekend of working my program and working out some of my kinks with a whole roomful of other people who are getting the same type of growth. I hope to see lots of our GRs and other District Four members in service there.
I’ve e mailed out Assembly Agendas, so I’ll just provide a brief overview. Starting Friday night at 7p.m., as I’ve mentioned before, is fun stuff: the funshop (which our district is doing this time), a meet and great with area coordinators, Alateen training, and a speaker. If you like, you can register as early as 3p.m. Registration continues Saturday morning, starting at 7:30a.m. Assembly itself begins at 9a.m., and registration closes at 10. We will hear various reports throughout the day, and sometime in the afternoon we’ll be put into Area Action Committees—which give us an opportunity to brainstorm and discuss issues and solutions about various topics, such as Alateen and Public Outreach. There may be issues on which votes are needed...this is a crucial part of GR service. If you are a GR or alternate GR, you can vote at assembly. If you are not (like I’m not), you do not have a vote. This is a time in which you get to represent your groups on a greater scale.
My favorite part of Spring Assembly is the Delegate’s report. I won’t tell you why; I’ll let you find out for yourself.
If you have any more questions about Assembly, feel free to ask. If I don’t know the answers from my own experience, I can always ask someone else!
In gratitude and service,
Amber J.
